Groupe JDA is a Montreal based, Canadian Engineering consulting firm, focused exceptionally on Structural Engineering. Groupe JDA features a team of highly qualified and experienced engineers, designers and technicians with extensive experience in the field of structural engineering.

Working hand in hand with our clients, the JDA team has successfully completed small, medium, and large scale projects both locally and internationally. The success of the firm can be attributed to the vast, yet very specific knowledge that the team members possess which can be evidenced by the renewing of contracts from returning clients.

Groupe JDA deliver quality structural designs ensured to comply with the most stringent Building Code requirements while maintaining the upmost economical designs for our clients. We rapidly deliver clear, concise and easy to understand drawings, specifications, and reports while working directly with all participants (professionals, fabricators and suppliers) to ensure our clients are completely satisfied with the final end product.

As with many other industries, structural design is also rapidly advancing, new ideas, techniques and products are being developed all the time. Our team members maintain close relationships with other industry experts and suppliers to ensure that we are offering our clients the best solutions possible.

We are members of the ICC (International Code Council), AISC (American Society of Steel Construction Inc.), EERI (Earthquake Engineering Research Institute), and various Provincial Professional Engineering Organisations. And we encourage working directly with research students from McGill University (a landmark Canadian University) in order to maintain close ties with advancing technological research.

Principal areas of expertise of the firm's personnel include:

  • multi-storey residential;
  • commercial;
  • light industrial (warehousing, production plants);
  • heavy industrial;
  • mining.

The firm also specialises in the design of structures housing concrete and paste-fill batch plants on an international level. The complexity of such structures is attributed to the large gravity and seismic loads imparted from elevated silos (often between 100 tons to 300 tons capacity) housed at the upper most portion of the production plant. The design criteria for seismic resistance design of such structures is often not very clearly defined in local building codes and hence more advanced and sophisticated analysis methods, such as Dynamic Analysis, is often required.
